Our Formula for Achievement
1. Consistency provides paths. At first it was not easy to get parents open to having their children enjoy a break from their work. Only the consistent effort to convince parents to allow for this has helped us to continue working with children.
2. We feel good about what we do. We enjoy working with children and we are happy to find new alternatives for children in different social condition.
3. We stayed with our mission and in that path, we have found people to help us to accomplish our goals, always improving the processes.
4. We believe in what we do. Even given constant change, we believe that all the things we are creating for working children will plant hope in them to become the best version of themselves as human beings.
ACHIEVIMENTS

Promote new ways parents can educate their children. We have strengthened the love and care for their children through workshops on respectful parenting.
We have reduced by 70% parents’ use of violence to correct their children’s behavior.

Emphasize the importance of education for these children. Through workshops we have evaluated the intellectual capacities of each child, demonstrating to parents their child’s potential. This has strengthened self-esteem in both the parents and children.
Now 80% of parents understand that knowing how to read, write, add and subtract can help children change and improve the quality of their lives.

Foment gender and equality. Through workshops, we promote tolerance and working together to show that each human being, regardless of gender, when given equal rights and opportunities has an equal capacity to feel and make decisions.
We learn that 90% of children are sensitive to their peers’ and friends’ feelings and can learn respectful behavior toward them and thus reduce using physical aggression to settle differences.

Strengthen the emotional bond of mothers towards their children. Through personalized workshops we educate mothers about the importance of giving hugs to their children to strengthen ties between them.
We have convinced 90% of mothers to show their love for their children with hugs which strengthens their child’s self-esteem, making that child happier and more receptive to intellectual, emotional and social learning.

Promote healthy eating and physical health in children. With the medical campaigns we evaluate the state of health in children and their families.
Thanks to UBECI, 80% of our families and children now enjoy overall better health.

The Future of UBECI
The purpose of our organization is to work towards ending the cycle of poverty in Ecuador and having human being future positive adults. In the future we hope to be able to provide educational, medical services to all children born into poverty in Quito. After this is established, our growth will lead to supporting other communities throughout Ecuador.
